All Things Cartoon
So we all know that anime is one way to go if you like great story-lines in an animated setting. But this blog is devoted to us people who also enjoy American animation. Of course I'm not talking about the lame ones whose jokes are aimed toward five-year-olds, and whose story plot is centered around nothing of importance. The ones I'm talking about: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Young Justice, and more recently, Generator Rex.

Generator Rex: Back in Black
Tonight, the latest episode of GR aired, and dang was it a good one! Like the end of last weeks episode, I am dying to see next weeks!
Again, please watch the episode before reading this, as there will be spoilers.
Alright, first off, we do not get to learn who Black Knight is. I am still craving to figure out who she is.
I have one crazy theory, but please hear me out. To me, she resembles Circe in a way. Her expressions and eyes. But also, the fact that she has PURPLE hair. Perhaps many people have forgotten, but Circe dyed her hair from red to purple. Okay it is unlikely...but with time travel, anything is possible. Maybe it's someone related to Circe...
Anyways, from this episode, we simply learn she is Providence's new leader, put in power by people above White Knight. What is safe to assume is that Black Knight is NOT Breach.
Black Knight: Breach isn't here Rex. The world has changed. The sooner you accept that--
Rex: Not ignoring you, it's just that your not real.
The world has indeed changed. The old Generator Rex show which we grew so accustomed to is gone. I feel like I'm watching a new show from the very beginning, with a new major villain and plot line. But who are these people above White Knight?
Black Knight: Director had lost faith in his abaility to lead.
Rex: ...I never knew White even had a boss.
Black Knight: There are, shall we say, layers.
Regardless of who the director is, White Knight is gone from Providence. Providence has moved past their old ways of "cure, contain, and kill" and are now actually controlling EVO's. What is most fascinating about this concept is that Cesar is the one who created the new technology, and even uses the technology to control his own brother.
Cesar (about to shoot Rex with the controlling beam): Of course I'm thinking. This is the logical conclusion to what we started.
So Cesar has finally turned somewhat evil...well not really. But this is the first concrete proof of Cesar turning on his brother. And what does Cesar mean when he says what we started. I have a feeling it relates to a much deeper plot line, one we hopefully find out about very soon!
I was happy to see that the end of the episode, Rex leaves Providence and is reunited back with his old friends (Bobo, Dr. Holiday, Six, and even White Knight). I would have died in anticipation if it was another cliffhanger. It seems that a new plot line for season three has now been developed. New Providence against Old Providence. But what are the true purposes of New Providence?
Six: But one thing is sure. New Providence is about more than just getting Evo off the streets.
SO we know they want to control Evo's. But why? Does new Providence truly just want to save people, or is there something more they are hoping to accomplish?
Nevertheless, despite all the questions I have about Black Knight and Cesar, the only thing that I really wanted to know by the end of the episode was: Where's Noah?
Happy Watching.

Young Justice: Failsafe
Hi Everyone,
Young Justice does not have too many episodes out, but it is by far one of the better cartoons on American television. And in a way, sort of fills the strange void left behind when Teen Titans finally ended. I suppose that may be because aqualad's voice actor is Khary Payton, the same voice as Cyborg. That being said, Young Justice's artwork and animation is by far more realistic, and the story telling is clearly different as well. But it is nice to find another DC based superhero show that seems to be getting better and better each week.
The latest episode, Failsafe, was no exception. If you haven't watched the episode, please watch before reading this blog. There will be spoilers!
From the very beginning, the episode is full of action and heart pumping fighting as the Justice League attempts to stop invading aliens from destroying the Earth. One by one, however, the Justice League, and even Aqualad's team is destroyed. Until no one but Megan and her Uncle are left alive. It isn't until the end of the episode do we learn that it is all just a training exercise that had gone dreadfully wrong. Megan's subconscious had taken over, forcing all her teammates to believe the exercise were real.
But what I think was the greatest part of this episode was all the subtle clues that hinted that everything was taking place in Megan's head. Clue #1:
Wally (gives himself one of Megan's trademarked facepalms): Hello Wally! Come on...
Robin gives him a confused look.
I shared a similar confusion to Robin's after hearing that line. One, it was out of character for Wally. And two, I knew it had to be important, otherwise, the animators wouldn't had made such an effort to show Robin's confused face.
Clue #2.
After Megan's bioship is destroyed, she falls to the ground and says: "That didn't feel like..."
Okay this may be a bit of a stretch. We don't really know what she is about to say here. Maybe it was just something obvious as "that didn't feel like a transportation laser." But some part of me wants to believe that it was a clue to the dream sequence. Perhaps she notices that the attack didn't feel "real."
I admit, there aren't as many clues as I initially thought. Nevertheless, the writers did an excellent job at creating a standalone episode full of excitement and importance. The ending is definetely one of the best parts when John says:
"In terms of raw power, she has the strongest telepathic power I have ever encountered. Stronger by far than mine."
It leaves me wondering what future storylines the writers have for Miss Martian. Will her powers be sought after? Will her telepathic powers break her down? Will they harm her friends on accident? All we can do is wait for future episodes. The show is finally finding its footing. Hopefully it will keep audiences entertained and cartoon network will buy another season!
The next episode is called Disordered. Lets hope its as exciting as its predeccesor!
Happy Watching.
My First Blog: Generator Rex: Lions and Lambs
Hey everyone,
So we all know that anime is one way to go if you like great story-lines in an animated setting.
And so, without much further ado, I'd like to begin about the most recent episode of Generator Rex released: Lions and Lambs.
Lots of people have been saying that season 2 is not nearly as good as season 1. I have to disagree with them, and I think this episode is why. It is this episode which has made me want to write a blog about it! If you haven't seen the episode, please watch it as soon as you can (and before you continue reading this blog.)
This is the season finale of season 2, and by far one of the best GR episodes as of yet. What is truly amazing about this episode is that fact that the writers are able to make us feel empathy for one of Van Kleiss' initial sidekicks, Breach. Granted, she is kind of creepy and strange, but through her words, we get a sense of the sadness within her.
Rex: "He's hurting you."
Breach: "It's not real. It can't hurt you if it isn't real."
Breach's voice actor, Hynden Walch, (you may recognize her as the voice of Starfire from teen titans) does an amazing job. In this episode, I found myself rooting for her, hoping that she turns good once and for all. At the same time, I couldn't help but feel her words were giving clues about a much deeper plot in the show (one I haven't figured out yet). Why does she think everyone around her is not real? Does it have something to do with time travel? Is she not from the correct time zone?
Another line that I think is extremely important for the future plotline.
Breach (looking up into a starry sky): "Do you see it...This is where the stillness comes from."
Honestly, I have no idea what it means. At first, it made me laugh after seeing Rex's completely confused look. But then I started thinking it was something that was going to be very important in future episodes. Here's why:
At the end of the episode, after she has just transported Van Kleiss to another time period, the following conversation takes place:
Rex: "So What's going to happen then."
Breach: "I don't know if any of this was real. But it was nice...having a friend for awhile."
The music with the words was very powerful at this moment. But more importantly, I noticed that the animators made it a point to show Breach staring at the sky a long time. She was staring at the sky the same way she did when she told Rex about where the stillness came from.
Lastly, the ending of this episode was the biggest cliffhanger GR has ever left us in. Rex is sent into the future. Providence is being controlled by a woman called Black Knight (I think it may be Breach...possibly from a different time period.) But I also find it fishy that all the old Providence members are gone (Dr. Holiday, Agent Six, Bobo), except for Rex's brother. I have always suspected that there was something not so good about him, and this episodes only continues to affirm my suspicions.
Anyways, we will all have to wait a week until next weeks episode comes out called "Back in Black." It's gonna be a tough wait, but in the meantime we can speculate who Black Knight is. Breach? Dr. Holiday? Rex's mother? I'm just throwing random guesses out there. Let me know who you think she is in the comments!
Thanks for reading.
